Learning activity details

Project Aspire is a new project from the student led team behind the OffPerts.

After their success at the Global Forum the students realised how important, but challenging student leadership can be. As such they wanted to design a system and method to engage other schools in releasing the potential of their students, whilst at the same time taking a lead of their own learning.

Project Aspire was therefore born to help facilitate this.

The aim of the project is to offer a monthly challenge to schools, involving ICT. Schools can compete in the challenge for free, and teachers will be given support materials.

The challenges are all based on 21st Century Skills, and each entry is given a level based on the work submitted. The level also enables the school team to build up 'badges' on the Project Aspire network and advance on the student leadership ladder.

The ultimate aim of the project is for students to submit their own challenges for the project, and for a library of student leadership challenges to be collected which can be used in schools worldwide for free.

At present, any school wishing to take part just needs to register on www.empowertoaspire.co.uk and look at the monthly challenge. Each challange begins on the 1st of the month with entry closing on the 28th. Feedback on the entries is then given by the middle of the following month, with prizes and badges then awarded.

As schools progress through the challenges, and teams take on more leadership skills and improve, schools will be invited to join the judging panels, and begin to shape the project itself.

Ultimately, all schools achieving above a certain level will be invited to a UK student conference where workshops will be delivered by students, for students, to students.

Every school that enters the project will be issued with an Office 365 account on the project aspire portal, and this will allow then to communicate with other schools and build up their own connections and networks.
