Project Sensory Integration-After witnessing firsthand the success of using the Xbox Connect with my special needs students, I was inspired to get my students involved in the process and create a sensory integrated, academic Connect game that would appeal to all types of students. Brain Drain mixes research based, proven effective fine and gross motor movements with sensory integrated tasks to create the highest learning environment possible. Students use their body and spatial awareness skills to complete academic learning tasks. When students of all learning styles have an aligned and balanced sensory system, they are able to retain more information and learn new tasks at a much higher and more efficient rate. Thanks to Microsoft’s Xbox Connect, students now have the opportunity to experience education in a whole new way.
The thing that sets Brain Drain apart and makes it a truly unique, one of a kind game is the sensory integration. No other game currently offered plans and incorporates sensory tasks. The sensory tasks that are integrated are proven to work for not only special education, but general education students as well. Brain Drain will not only teach students all academic subjects (including new languages and cultures), how to create positive relationships with peers and adults, but actually improves their development physically and mentally. Data and statistics proving that not only sensory integration, but most importantly Brain Drain is highly effective are included.
