In such a big school like ours we need to have a leadership team to form a vision, communicate it and develop it together. This is a critical first step in the journey towards innovation. The leaders involve members of staff, which make up an innovative team and set a clear goal. They lead people into a motivating journey towards creative ways of working. School leaders treat people with respect, make them accountable for the results and provide them with the tools to make the journey fascinating. Modern technology is one of these tools. Working in the atmosphere of freedom and creativity helps the teachers to understand innovation as an inevitable part of their work and as a way of life. Thus the Culture of Innovation appeared in our school.
In our school we have first-hand experience as we have been in the innovative process for more than 20 years. In our opinion the main goal of innovative development is the achievement of social success by all stakeholders of the educational process in our school and its community.
To sum up, some best practice we would like to share:
1.The innovative school management team must “have hope, be selfless and be constant learners”, as M. Fullan mentioned.
2.School leaders must encourage innovative and creative relations in teachers and students.
3.Modern technology is an effective tool for capacity building.
4.Take part in PIL Network and Innovative Forums. The one in Barcelona was “total refresh” for our management team.
