Earlier this year, futurist Neil Selwyn shared his ideas on what changes we might see in education as technology continues to develop. Some of the ideas were pretty out there, like the idea that we could have additional memory installed in our brains.

"People are also talking about a hard drive you would attach externally on your head to download information into for enhancing memory capacity."

But most of his predictions are what you would expect, and some are already in development. Teaching will become more personalised as students come to rely on the tablets and other smart devices; printed textbooks will be all but gone; and rural and remote communities in Australia will be serviced with virtual lessons and mobile schoolrooms. Did you know that some schools in Japan already use robot teachers? But don't worry about losing your job just yet:

"Most of what they[sic] scientists say will happen in 10 years will happen in 50."
